My dad spiked a fever last night, and his tummy ache has been a lot worse (I only use highly scientific words). So we left our hotel this morning, and drove about 10 miles to a super nice hospital. It is the number 1 hospital in Louisiana, and is a Magnet hospital (an award for nursing excellence. John Muir has this too. And we all know that JM is pretty much the best hospital ever. Well, at least the ER!) and was also voted #1 in the state by the LA nurses association last year. So the point is, it was a great place to be! They took great care of him while he was there. He decided to have a reaction to Morphine, so he got to stay all day and have extra tests done (I sure hope Kaiser covers it!) but everything looked good. They gave him some new medicine and sent him on his way.
We're staying at a great hotel right across the street from the hospital. It's super duper nice, and we got a great discounted rate since my dad was in the hospital, which is pretty cool. The part about the discount, not him being in the hospital. We should be on the road again early tomorrow morning, and hopefully we will get to finish out this trip by seeing lots of historical monuments and museums, and not any more hospitals!
And I will leave you with this picture of the happy camper coming back from x-ray. You can't see it here, but the door behind him has a sign on it with a picture of a handgun that says "NO WEAPONS ALLOWED." Yes, we are definitely in Louisiana.

ReplyDeleteYes I am reading your blog! Wonderful pictures. Really liked seeing Vicksburg and the bar-b-que looked like the best ever. Can feel the humidity just looking at the pictures. Love the blog - makes me want to go on a road trip! The Churchills are praying for you especially for Tom!
