Laurel, Mississippi

I apologize to all of you for not posting last night. I fell asleep. Sorry!

So yesterday we left Monroe, Louisiana and began driving to Mississippi. We had a shorter day, so we decided to take our time and enjoy our drive. We found our way to a little old town called Vicksburg, which apparently is where one of the major defining battles of the Civil War. Here are a few pictures:

The Mississippi River.

We made it to Mississippi!

Vicksburg, Miss. There are the cutest buildings!

Eating lunch in Vicksburg. Such a cool place. I had the fried catfish, and it was amazing!

This place is great. I love the colors.

Downtown Vicksburg, Miss.

Vicksburg, Miss. This building is where the first Coca Cola was bottled. There was a small museum inside, which we went through.

The rest of the fam in front of the Coca Cola museum.

Jimmy drinking the first bottle of coke ever made.

We went into a really awesome bookstore in Vicksburg, called Lorelei's Books. It was out of place, because it was really modern and organized inside. Not to say that the other places in Mississippi aren't, it was just more so =) It was a great place and the owner was fabulous!

These are the resident cats at the bookstore. They reminded us all of Bea and Angelo.

So finally we made it to Laurel, Mississippi in the afternoon. We did a little exploring of Laurel on our own before meeting up with Kevin. Laurel is a really awesome little town, although the few businesses that are downtown are not open on weekends. But it's a great area with a lot of potential.

The future home of Agape Church.

The church building again.

Downtown Laurel.

Exploring inside the future church building.

Rockstar!

It was really hot, and Andrew was wilting like a delicate flower.

Hanging out waiting for Kevin to meet up with us.

University of Southern Mississippi football stadium.

I still can't figure out what Kevin is doing.

Buildings at the school.

Such a beautiful campus.

THE BEST barbeque place EVER!!!!!

These are the best ribs I have EVER had. Words cannot describe how good this was.

Our waitress. She was amazing.

Agape Church on Sunday morning.

This is quite possibly the cutest kid I have ever seen. The Pastor's son.

My dad decided to take a little detour. His diverticulitis flared up again, and he got really sick. He finally went to the ER today. We ended up staying with Kevin for an extra day so that he can rest. We are still here tonight also.

This is my dad's "I'm so happy to be here" face.

At least he got to watch baseball while getting his IV antibiotics!

I took this picture before we met up with Kevin, not knowing that the first 4 windows on the second floor on the right are his house. Ha. It's the most awesome little place!

Jimmy and Kevin playing some worship songs.

The view from Kevin's place. It has so much potential, it will be really great to see these places get restored and brought back to life.

We've been having a great time with Kevin, and he's been a great host. He's probably wondering if we are ever going to leave at this point! We had a great time at church today, Pastor James gave a fabulous message. We will probably explore Laurel a little more tomorrow morning (I don't think any of us want to leave!) and then head to New Orleans.

Time for bed,
Goodnight and Bardle do,
Jenn
