Hello to our faithful followers,

We began our day in our lovely 2 room 'apartment' in Franklin, TN, our all-time favorite city so far. After an abrupt awakening by the fire alarm at 6:45am we were bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready for a trip to Nashville. (You will notice that I am using capital letters tonight so as not to irritate a certain someone.)

Here are some pictures as we drove into Nashville.

We decided to have lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, and it was a delicious decision!

This is for Shantell....hope you are still following!

This is our waitress, Jamie. She looks like she is 19 but is actually working on her PhD in psychology in N.Y. AND she is a great waitress!! AND she is from California!!

Some local celebrities.

The boys are turning around and around in sync with the giant guitar.

Our little Guitar Hero....isn't he cute??

Flex it, Andrew!

Mr. Hollywood...wait, Mr. Nashville!

Record shops were closed on Sundays :0(
But there weren't many people on the streets on a Sunday :0)

There were a lot of bars pumping out some pretty good music. We will have to come back when we are all 21+ so we can hang out in some of them.

Ryman Auditorium.

Country Music Hall of Fame. We decided not to go in since it is expensive and not all of us are country music fans. We will have to come back here with GaGa and PaPa, that would be more fun.
Notice how the windows make a piano keyboard....pretty cool.

We drove down Music Row (a bunch of old houses with recording companies/studios in them).

Being medically inclined, we had to take these pictures.

Wow, feels almost like home!

Tonight we went back to the historic district of Franklin (after naps of course).

We joined the crowd at Sweet CeCe's for frozen yogurt, YUMMY!
And there literally was a crowd, out the door onto the sidewalk. It must be the place to be on Sunday evening! And we also noticed that there are a lot of very beautiful people in Franklin. And nobody stared at us here (all over the South we have been stared at pretty much everywhere???) so we kinda felt at home.

See...out the door.

This is such a beautiful town. Even the stores that are closed are nicely lit inside. The old houses on the roads in and out of town are also lit outside. It's like Mayberry or something. Kinda like the episode where the Hollywood producer comes and wants to shoot in downtown Mayberry so everyone gets all dressed up and acts really nice....are you following me? cuz it's late and I'm not sure that I even know what I am saying....but I'm still capitalizing....

Franklin has the most awesomest shops with the most awesomeest stuff. This isn't any of it but there is some awesome stuff there.

This is the big round-about in the middle of town. It has about 37 streets coming into it.

This church was used as a Union hospital after the Battle of Franklin.

Pretty paper flowers.

Look closely Dana cuz you are going to make some of these for me.

**********************

I will close with some pictures of the ghosts that we saw in Franklin....you may recognize them.
Look closely....

We love our new camera!! And the ghosts!!

That's all for tonight. Tomorrow it's up and at 'em and on the road. We hope to make it to Kansas City or farther tomorrow. That's about 10 hours drive time. Yep, our trip is drawing to a close :0( and we need to high tail it to the West Coast.

See you on the road,

lauren

  1. Loved the ghosts! Nashville looks like fun! We were there sooo many years ago--about 30--so I know it's changed a lot in that time. Happy long drive tomorrow--no speeding tickets now.... ha, ha!!!

  2. I really want to go HERE now. Gosh every place you visit I just have to go see. Why do people stare at you in the south? They stared at Jane, Mike, Sam and I in Virginia but I thought we kinda looked like a weird family unit. You all look so normal and stuff! By the way, Anubis is Nubbie's real name. Tom looked really scary in those mug shots! Tell Jenn that Audra has a big warm blood horse. Her name is Maddie and she's a Tracaner (that's totally phonic spelling). Jennifer needs to go ride her sometime. I love those big horses too. When I go to the magic kingdom I always pet them. Have fun tomorrow!

  4. What is this statement that some of you are not jazzed about country music? We are....hard rock stinks!

Loved seeing the pictures in Franklin taken at night. I really want to go there. I am pretty sure they like country music. What do you think about getting a bus sometime and making a trip to Franklin? We could take quite a few people and make a lot of money by charging them. Could probably cover our expenses.

Franklin Gaige was pleased to know that you are in Franklin, TN. He knew of several other Franklin towns.

HOT, really hot yesterday. Don't know what it will be today, but I suspect it will be the same.

Winnie is on a crash diet. We know that you will be coming home and he wants to be slim and trim again. This is hard on me because I am the family's "feeder". Jane, you know what that is.

Don't stop blogging just because you are driving really fast. We still want to know if you are behaving yourselves.

Looking forward to hearing more stories when you get home. I suppose that you are anxious to see how Kelly and Dana have decorated your house. Andrew, you better watch out! I understand that they might have done something extraordinary for you.

    Hurry!!!!

    Love,

    GaGa and Winnie...woof
